In the Garden May

With the weather getting colder, the days becoming shorter and Jack Frost on the way, you may want to consider adding mulching bark onto your garden to help retain moisture and keep the frost from penetrating the soil. This will help to create an insulation barrier and keep your plants at a warmer temperature.

South Hort's Super Scree is designed to provide these qualities and it is recommended to be laid at a a depth of 100mm, which will help with weed suppression also.

It is a good idea to clean up all of the fallen leaves as tey can create a problem in the garden. Try shredding them and adding them into your garden as a compost.

Your lawn will benefit from some fertiliser at this time of the year to help get it through the winter season. South Hort's Lawn Fertiliser will help to give your lawn an extra boost, creating less room for weeds and controlling moss. We recommend that you fertilise on an overcast day, or early in the evening. Wet the lawn before and after application.

Stock up on your firewood now and get it put away to keep it dry for burning through the winter. South Hort has blue gum and pine off cuts available on site. Come in and get a load today!
